The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold met Monday Mr Lamberto Zannier, the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The Minister thanked Mr Zannier for participating in the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies (CoD) held last month.
In response, Mr Zannier expressed his satisfaction with Mongolia’s becoming an official Participating-State of the OSCE and activation of the bilateral cooperation. He noted that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights has opened election observation mission in Mongolia, and it plans to send to Mongolia a group of reporters led by Ukraine’s Permanent Representative.
Moreover, Mr Zannier emphasized that a matter on opening of the OSCE Representative Office in Mongolia is open, and it is possible to implement joint projects and programmes and to draw up reports in terms of the cooperation.
The Minister said that if the OSCE Permanent Representative Office is opened here it will become a bridge for the regional talks. “Mongolia has hosted the talks between Japan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Based on this experience, the State Head has put forward a proposal to launch the Ulaanbaatar talks on the Northeast Asia,” Mr Bold added.
