The Government of Mongolia in cooperation with the World Economic Forum hosted the first WEF Strategic Dialogue on Future of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar.
The round table was attended personally by WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Klaus Schwab, President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj, Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag and members of Parliament and Government. The meeting brought together over 170 delegates from over 30 countries and 90 international organizations, including world business leaders. The round table could help draw attention of the world to Mongolia, said Minister for Foreign Affairs L.Bold. He went on to say he is deeply convinced that the outputs of the meeting would be embodied in reality; the right scenario of Mongolian development would be finalized and recognized by the global community.
Strategic scenarios for the development of Mongolia till 2040 have been worked out by the WEF Strategic Foresight team on the basis of over 150 discussion, interviews and researches conducted among both domestic and foreign stakeholders to explore key strategic decisions and initiatives on the best management of the mining industry, economic diversification and maximizing of benefits from the wealth to the people.
The outputs of the meeting will be presented at World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos in January 2014.
